Rogue trader leman russ battle tank1/31/2024 ![]() If a model fails to make contact with the enemy, then it can't do anything else in the turn. ![]() The insistence that you must declare a charge says to me that they must have had trouble with people trying to get models into hand-to-hand without declaring a charge, but I can't really see how 'just moving into combat' would functionally be different than 'same, but say 'this model is charging' first'. ![]() You can move up to double your movement stat when charging, and have to declare that a model is charging when entering hand-to-hand combat, you can't just wander in. In these rules, you enter hand to hand combat by charging during the movement phase. Hand to hand combat starts off by saying that long range fire is difficult or impossible in many alien environments, but that doesn't really explain 'drive this tank closer so I can hit him with my sword' The LoS rules for woods (you can see up to 2" into, out of or through a wood, but you can't fire right through from one side to another) are my default LoS rules in any game, when we can't be bothered to look up the exact rules for the game we're playing (or it's too vague). Plasma guns do have Following Fire, but need to recharge for two whole turns before firing - so you can't fire it before turn three, and then not again until turn six. put down that filthy Eldar weapon, you 'orrible little heretic. In the army list in the Compendium, you could replace the flamer in your tactical squads with a shuriken catapult (but you had to do that for every tactical squad in your army) and it was available on the Standard Weapons table for characters, but Chaplains and Librarians were too lowly to get one. ![]() In Chapter Approved, no shuriken catapults allowed. In the 1st edition rulebook, a Marine special weapon trooper could have a shuriken catapult, but equipping a whole squad was something you'd need to clear with your fellow players, as it's not "by the book" (if anyone cared about that in 1987). pistols and cannons, on the other hand, were only introduced as part of the Harlequins army list. In 1st edition, everyone could make shuriken catapults, although Eldar ones were the best. ![]()
